    "Time Out"(Author)
After the heady years of the 'Neapolitan Renaissance' in the 1990s, this most stunning of Mediterranean-shore cities is working hard to consolidate its new-found self-confidence. In the TIME OUT GUIDE TO NAPLES local writers lead you around the city's famous monuments and hidden places. And take you outside the city, where more established holiday destinations continue to bask in the charm which has been attracting visitors for centuries: Capri and its famed piazzetta, Ischia with its hot springs, and the Amalfi Coast with its colourful villages dotted precipitously along stomach-curdling roads. All against the dramatic background of an azure sea and a gently smoking volcano.

"Fantastic, au courant listings of both hotels and restaurants include salient details to nail the essence of a place and provide all practical info."

i used this guide last october 05. naples is a difficult city at the best of times. this guide was excellent in making sense from the chaos! the intro sections on the history and social culture are very good and helpful. the social background to naples is very important to understanding the local vibe!which is highly individual!its excellent. especially for the area around the old city which is fabulous. don't be afraid the narrow streets after dark are not as scarey as you might think at first!the food info was accurate and a real treat. the pizza is the best in the world bar none. pizza lombardi was reccomended as the best in naples in this guide and was fantastic..i would highly reccomend this guide to anyone going to naples. you need this guide!

Comprehensive, realistic and helpful guide to Naples, the Neapolitain Riviera, and surrounding area. Very much in the usual Time Out style so as good on the nightlife and shopping elements as it is on the sightseeing. Particularly good on the Sorrentine Penninsula, Amalfi Coast and the islands. The photos could be better though.

I bought this prior to a holiday in Sorrento but was disappointed to find that it didn't actually give much information on Sorrento itself. It gives a good overview of the Naples region but not enough detail

Used this guide on a recent trip to Italy... helped a lot as it gave us a few ideas of places to visit.. Would defiantly buy another of these books for a different destination.

Having bought many Time Out guides as always this one doesn't fail to help you in your stay in Naples. Our Hotel was even in the guide! It has the added advantage of covering Capri, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, so wherever you choose to stay you have information on all the places you want to visit.

It's really worth searching around for the follow-up to this edition. The fourth edition, published in February 2007, is a significant improvement in every way. Not only is it more encouraging about the more youthful aspects of this region, it's also a lot more up-to-date, with more original and better suggestions for places to eat beyond the most obvious.
